Farmer's Market

This week’s feature story:
Local gardeners market their produce for both profit and fun
“To market, to market, to buy a fat pig”—so goes the old nursery rhyme.
Some local gardeners have been going to market twice a week, but it’s not to buy swine.
Ronald and Marjorie Gaffney and family and Larry and Kathy Sponder, all of Fairmount, take their garden produce to Farmers’ Market in Danville to sell.

Marjorie Gaffney and grandson Ed Gaffney check out the pumpkin crop.

One of the Sponder’s turkens struts her stuff. Turkens are chickens that
have a bald turkey head and a chicken body.

A variety of sunflowers add color to Kathy Sponder’s backyard garden.
